This year, Tuscany is obsessed with Dali!

August 13, 2011

Ossessione Dali. Passione, Ribellione e Lucinda follia a cura di Maurizio Vanni.

Dante dubbitoso

Every summer, the Tuscan area of Maremma hosts one major exhibition that is spread amongst multiple galleries. Last year it was Mirò, this year it’s Obsession Dalí: Passion, Rebellion, and Folly, with 100 color woodcuts that illustrate Dante’s Divine Comedy. The 33 triptychs of Paradise, Purgatory and Hell are composed of 3,500 wood blocks that took five years to cut and print under the direct supervision of the artist constitute one of his most important works on paper. Talks, tours, and kid-friendly activities have all been organized around the exhibits. For dates (which are different for each city) and more details, I suggest you check their official site www.museidimaremma.it.
