A guide to Italian pasta: the myths

August 21, 2011

Ok, here is another one that actually made me laugh! I must say I’ve never tried this, and I don’t recommend it to you either!

Myth: Throw pasta on the wall to see if it is ready.

Truth:

The only thing that throwing pasta on a wall does is create a mess! And what exactly is sticking to the wall supposed to tell you? I guess it probably came from the idea that cooked pasta is always a little sticky, but how is throwing on the wall the best way to make sure? I think just taking a bite and trying it for yourself is the best way to go. Keep in mind, that if you want to cook your pasta the authentic Italian way, you should cook it al dente which basically means it should be slightly chewy with a very small white dot at the core.

Enjoy pasta! Buon appetito!
