As they say in Italy…"Chi dorme non piglia pesci."

September 6, 2011

“Chi dorme non piglia pesci”

Literally, “who sleeps doesn’t catch the fish.” But the most suitable translation would be “the early bird catches the worm”-a proverb one would hardly imagine hearing in Italy, considering that Italians are known (or maybe I should say stereotyped) as  the people who enjoy themselves first, and think about work later. Well, it is still used and I dare say there are Italians who actually live by it. And no, not all Italians enjoy la dolce vita as much as we think. In fact, life is not always as dolce as it seems in Italy. Except, maybe, for Dolce from Dolce&Gabbana?
