Olympic special / Spotlight on Italy / Day 3

July 31, 2012

Day 3 of the once-in-four-years spectacle has proven that Italian are extremely good at at least two things – wielding swords (which we learned during the first two days) and shooting things! And you thought they were all about fashion, pasta and la dolce vita! So far, Italy ranks third on the medals table, with no less than 8 medals, behind China in first and USA in second place.

Niccolo Campriani took home the silver medal in the men’s 10 meter air rifle event. Did you know that he was also the first athlete of all the events to qualify for the Games in London, by winning the 2010 World title?? I didn’t. But I googled him and found out. I also found out that he is an engineer. And only 24 years old, which makes everything a tad more impressive.

Enjoying day 4, and taking notes for the next post!
